Happy 38th Birthday, to Wallsend's Bushido Judo Kwai.

This is the Bushido Judo Kwai Squad on the 2nd May 2014, at our dojo at King's Estate Residents Association, Milfield Ave, Kings Estate, Wallsend NE28 9JF. On the eve of our 38th birthday.

Ellie wins our top award for the second time.

Ellie Hutton has won the highest honour at Bushido Judo Kwai for the second time. The Stephen Milsted Award is presented to the junior member, who ends our year (3rd May) at the top of our medal table, Ellie finished with eight gold and two sliver medals, two of which were won at competitions in London and Dumfries. Steve Ellerby 3rd Dan presented the award to Ellie, Steve who joined our club in 1984 also won the Stephen Milsted Award in 1987 and 1989.


Newcastle Area British Judo Council Championship 30th March 2014.

Today six Bushido Judo Kwai junior members competed at the Newcastle Area British Judo Council Championship at Benfield Centre for Sport, Newcastle upon Tyne.  Zac Ellerby age 9 won a bronze medal in only his second championship, Ellie Hutton age 9, retained her position at number one in our medal chart with a gold medal.  Mille Williams age 10 won a silver medal, while 9 year old Jenni Francis won a bronze, in what was also Jenni's second championship.  Jack Barnett age 10 and Jessica Cairns age 13 were both awarded runner up medals, well done to all of them they are a credit to our club. Thanks also to Eddie and Joyce and there team for a great day's judo.

Bushido Judo Kwai Medal Table, 30th March 2014

Bushido Judo Kwai Success at A.E.J.F Championship.

The All England Judo Federation Northern & Newcastle Regions held their judo championship at Morpeth, Northumberland today.  Organisers and competitors were surprised to see our President Mr Joe Norman who had travelled up from Essex, but Joe had another purpose for being here and that was to promote Juneille Smith to 7th Dan and John Hall to 5th Dan, our congratulations to them.
Twelve junior members from Bushido Judo Kwai competed with much success, winning 13 gold, 7 silver and 1 bronze medal.

Jessica Cairns was taken to hospital with a minor injury, I have just been informed by Jessica's  mam that there are no brakes and she just needs to rest, Good !!!

NCYP Awards

This was at the Northumberland Clubs for Young People Awards, which was held on Wednesday 5th March 2014 at Wallsend Memorial Hall.

Eddie Kenny nominated both Michael and I for a Key Stone Award in recognition for voluntary work. in our judo clubs, Bushido Judo Kwai (Wallsend) & Butokokan Judo (Newbiggin)

All England Judo Federation Junior & Senior Grading.

The All England Judo Federation, Northern and Newcastle Regions came together on Saturday 25th January, at the White Swan Centre, Killingworth, North Tyneside, to hold a joint Junior and Senior Grading.
 35 judoka took part from Bushido Judo Kwai Wallsend, Ronin Judo Club Morpeth, Shegendo Judo Kwai Cramlington, we were treated to some excellent contest and demonstrations of Nage no Kata. We began at 9.30am and finished right on time at 3.00pm.
The examiners were, Juneille Smith 6th Dan and Chris Dawson 7th Dan, our referees were, John Hall 4th Dan, Pamela Germaney 1st Kyu, Robert Stuart 1st Kyu, Jon Thompson 1st Kyu our Timekeeper / Recorder was Duncan Stuart.
Both Juneille and I would like to thank everyone involved in the grading and making it a very successful event.
